Had to make a run there tonight for some freedom after hubby got home. Still thinking about going on a Meijer run. I must be insane, but, then again, I've been stuck in this house with the kids all...week...long.

Anyway...

I don't know if this is at all ValuMarkets, but this is what I found at the one in Mt Washington. Kraft BBQ sauce is $0.88 through Saturday. If you have your $0.75 off coupon from the insert several weeks back or your $1.00 off Kraft coupon, now's a great time to use them! Besides that, there were $0.35 off peelie coupons on these bottles! They don't expire until December. So, I got five bottles, paid with five coupons and some change, and got five coupons in exchange!

ALSO...

There is a coupon tearpad in the cheese aisle for $0.50 off Kraft Natural Shredded Cheese. Needless to say, some ended up in my coupon binder. And, then, I got a few more and bought four bags of shredded cheese for $1.00 each. :D

I also noticed they carry Suave Deodorant for $1.09. I know Kroger usually puts them on sale 10 for $10, but they probably won't be doing it again for several weeks. So, if you've got some of those Suave deodorant coupons to use up, ValuMarket would be a good place to use them. Or, if you've got some and don't plan on using them, you can always send them to me! The shelters are always in need of personal care items.

Review: Kashi GoLEAN Waffles : Mrs Penny Pincher Kentucky Coupons & Deals

I signed up with VocalPoint back in March, and finally got an offer to try and review. Last week, I was happy to see in my mailbox a coupon to try Kashi GoLEAN Waffles for free. I picked up my free box at Kroger, and decided to try them for breakfast this morning.

Now, being the tightwad that I am, I prefer making homemade waffles or pancakes. But, these were free, so who am I to argue?

The Kashi GoLEAN Waffles were quick to fix by popping them in the toaster. The edges were nice and crisp. I tried a few bites of the waffle plain. Not bad. I personally wouldn't eat them without any toppings though. After adding a little butter and light syrup, my toddler and I ate them.

From a nutritional perspective, the Kashi GoLEAN Waffles do contain 8g of protein, and 6g of fiber per serving size of two waffles. Can't say that about my regular pancake/waffle mix! Walgreens Clearance : Mrs Penny Pincher

Since I had a few RR to burn through tonight, I stopped in my local Walgreens. I had $5 in RR to spend. I found several food items to put in my pantry, and my donation box! Here's what I found:

I paid less than $2.00 out of pocket. The cashier was impressed! Too bad I didn't have any coupons for the oatmeal, peanut butter, and cake mix. I'm pretty sure there are some floating around out there. Get to your local Walgreens, and check out their clearance!

The Shepherd's Shelter : Mrs Penny Pincher

First of all, welcome any that are visiting from The Shepherd's Shelter. Thanks for listening to me ramble, and I hope you can find some useful information here! Sorry I had to leave so quickly, but I had to be back home so my husband could get to work. I also did not realize that the office was closed for the meeting, so with that being said, I still have those boxes of items I wanted to give with me. Hopefully, I can swing by tomorrow, or the first of the week to drop them off.

To my readers, I've just recently discovered this organization, and took some items that I got for free or really cheap up to donate to them last month.

Who are they? The Shepherd’s Shelter Inc., TSSI, is a 501c3 non-profit, faith-based organization founded in 2001 by a small group of caring citizens concerned about the increasing number of Bullitt County families facing a growing housing crisis. The commitment of this grassroots effort has resulted in Bullitt County’s first organized effort to prevent and end homelessness through a continuum of care. TSSI is now providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent housing and supportive services designed to help participants gain a high level of self-sufficiency that will break the cycle of recurring homelessness.

Now, imagine you have more than enough for your family, and you've got some coupons that you can use that would result in cheap or free items, particularly personal care items. I'm asking that each of you would donate a few items a month to The Shepherd's Shelter, or a place like it. Kroger Trip & A Tip : Mrs Penny Pincher

I had to make a Kroger trip this afternoon to get a few things. I stocked up on Kellogg's cereal for $1.00 a box, of course. Also was lucky enough to find some lunch meat marked down to $1.79 as Manager's Specials. I threw two packages in the freezer to see how they do. Can't imagine it will hurt them. The sub shop that I worked in years ago got their lunch meat delivered frozen, and we thawed the packages in the refrigerator as we needed them.

Here's the real reason I post about my Kroger trip tonight. There was a receipt in my cart that someone had left. Out of curiousity, I grabbed it to look at as I sat in my car after loading up my groceries in the backseat. I had to contain myself! This person's receipt had a total savings of 1%!! (I personally saved 53% on this trip). This receipt showed that the customer had purchased a box of Cheerios for $3.81. I almost passed out! $3.81?! Did it have a gold ring inside the package of cereal? The last time I stocked up on Cheerios I paid $0.67 a box! I honestly felt sorry for that person that they had to pay that much money for cereal.

Couponing is all a matter of timing. Hold onto your coupons and use them when an item is on sale. If I had used my $0.50 coupon on a box of Cheerios regularly priced for $3.81, the coupon would have doubled, and I would have gotten the box for $2.81. Instead, I waited until Kroger had them on sale for $1.67 a box. Therefore, with my $0.50 coupon doubled to $1.00, I got Cheerios for $0.67.

I'm still kicking myself that I didn't have the room to buy 10 more packages of Gorton's fish almost two months ago. By pairing up coupons and a sale at Kroger, I got them for $1.67 a box. Know what they are on sale for now at Kroger? Roughly $6-$7! YIKES! I think I'll go fishing instead!
